John 14: 12 I tell you the solemn truth, the person who believes in me will perform the miraculous deeds that I am doing, and will perform greater deeds than these because I am going to the Father. 13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it. 15 “If you love me, you will obey my commandments. 16 Then I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate to be with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot accept because it does not see him or know him. But you know him because he resides with you and will be in you.

One of the most amazing testimonies I have heard that made an incredible impression on me as a young Christian is that of a converted drug addict. He had come to church during a miracle service to share of how he was sitting under the bridge very late at night when someone came and told him he was sent by God and that if he didn’t change he would die soon and lose every chance of making something of his life. Although he resisted at first and even threatened to kill the young man, eventually, he fell to his knees crying knowing that indeed it was God who had sent the young man to him.

The brother prayed for him and the power of God fell on him and his life never remained the same.

This brother was not a pastor, he wasn’t the choir leader… he wasn’t the prayer leader…in fact, he had no title…, he was just a child of God who knew the power and authority he had.

The bible says we are kings and priests but what kind of king would we make if we lacked power or authority?  What king reigns without authority?

We have been empowered and authorized.  God in Luke 10:19 said Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and overall the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

Source of the power and authority: 2 Corinthians 5:18-20 (NKJV)

Primary authority resides in God. He is the creator of all things and so has absolute power and authority but He delegated to Jesus, Jesus to the apostles while on the earth and to us by faith.

Tool: The Name of Jesus: John 14:13

God has given us power and authority in the name of Jesus Christ.

There is power is in the Name of Jesus.  Jesus Christ is the name above all names for God hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth.
But hey! There are conditions to using the name of Jesus:

1.       To use the name you must be in a relationship with Him and we must have faith in Him and His Name

So the source of our power and authority is God, the tool is the name of Jesus and we have

The helper …in the person of Holy Ghost: Acts 1:8

Holy Spirit was very much involved in Jesus’ ministry here on earth.  So for us to also be effective here on earth we need the Holy Spirit

As children of the King of kings! Royal princes and princesses of the monarch of the universe we have authority and the power of kings, of royals! The name of Jesus is the tool. The Holy Ghost is our helper!’”

Yes, we have been empowered and authorized!
